I see that Mr Souness is having to defend himself following yesterdays comments about football and it being a man's game.
He was a tough tackling midfield player in his time and a respected player, manager and pundit and he was watching a game of football yesterday and one that was being played by men!
The fact that there was a female pundit should make no difference and as always the comments have started.
Why can these people not get over themselves?
He didn't decry Women in football or have a go at them - he just spoke as he found yesterday that's all.
The female pundit was only there to promote diversity - for no other reason at all - promotion over talent and positive discrimination as such.
I don't mind it at all in most sports but football, rugby and cricket should be men for the men's game and women for the women's game in my opinion.
That way everyone knows the score.
I suspect I will get dogs abuse for this post but it is not meant to be discriminatory in any way - just sensible thinking to my mind.

I fully concur with the sentiments of Graeme Souness in relation to the 'Higher bar' referees now use so as to not disrupt the flow of the game. His point was that the game has been slowed down by footballers "Buying fouls" and going to ground far too easily and now challenges are being let go and the game is a better spectacle for it. In his view "We have got our game back" and Souness made comments in this context.

A gentleman describing a game featuring solely men pilloried for using the word "men" or indeed "Man".He was not decrying the game played by women.

Totally ridiculous over-reaction.

Do as Souness does mate and ignore the proffesionaly offended. Speak as you see it, do not let these P. C. warriors infiltrate your way of thinking or indeed your life.
f*** the lot of them, it's a man's game after all.

I think it's a disgrace.

People can change their minds overnight apparently so it would be common sense at the very least for them to ask ol' Graeme how 'they' identified that day before making assumptions.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Or say what you think other people have seen. If anyone was really outraged by what he said it's odds on they hadn't watched the game.

I watched the Sheffield Wednesday v Sunderland game on Sky last week, maybe I’m over thinking, but at the end a Wednesday player was voted “player” of the match, what happened to Man of the match ?

He said nothing wrong he was commentating on the men's game if his comments were aimed at women's football that might be another matter.

Ludicrous 'Woke' hogwash.Makes my red corpuscles boil.

"Man of the match" for mens game.
"Woman of the match" for womens game.

Non-birthing person of the match?
Safer to use Player of the Match to include participants who don't identify as either man or woman.
Bit of a conundrum for football; since they've yet to have a current Premier League player come out as gay would a player claim non-binary status?
