I tried to bet on Frank Lampard being a pratt on Paddy Power but they would only give odds on.

Bit harsh there, don't think it was a bad shout at all.

I've only ever really been a Cup Final, Derby or Grand National man for bets, fruit machines were my downfall once upon a time. Might start giving these a go!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Been there with my wages gone in the fruity as a kid. Not a nice feeling but maybe lesson learned at an early age. Gambling can take it all including your life sadly!

I'm all too aware Cryst! My brother-in-law had a nightmareish experience but is thankfully a recovering addict. Very active in the circuit now and often stays at ours (from Cornwall) whenever he is partaking in something taking place in the City. Often throws a few ex-footballers names in anecdotes when doing anything high-profile. There was a recent and very typical death on my wife's side again recently too, 3 young kids and I'd spoken to him at a wedding about 6-18 months previously, incredibly tragic.

Of all my problems I've encountered in life I am grateful that affliction never touched me. I was that 12 y/o being shouted at from behind the bar for playing fruit machines and did used to love them into my mid-20's, must say. But without any real declared effort just sort of grew away from/out of it. I have solemnly swore to never bet on Palace however for my own reasons which was a shame as my earliest memories of football include the old man asking my opinion on FGS and full time result in the lower Holmesdale!

Whenever we're not playing at home on a Saturday I like to do "Both teams to score" and "Over 2.5 goals" bets on random games across all the leagues including National League and Scottish Leagues.

Pick 5 games and do Fourfolds (5 bets). Usually get your money back at least if 4 come in but if all 5 come in you're laughing. Keeps it interesting till the final whistle for me.

For example, yesterday Cambridge United's late winner to win 2-1 was a cause for much celebration as it was the 5th out of 5. I've even had a good evening on the back of Dagenham & Redbridge getting a stoppage time consolation to lose 4-1 at Altrincham to get my both teams to score acca up.

Simple things.....

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.
