Feels like we have quietly and efficiently gone about our business this window. Picking off a couple of priority positions in CB (with versatility to play across the back line) and DCM.

But also picking up a few really cost-effective options (who have bags of potential) in Johnstone and Ebiowei.

I suspect the club feel that LB is ok with TM (and TA for the future), and at RB we have enough for another season. Then we also seam ok for wide forwards with 4, and ok up top with 4 centre forwards (in which OE and LP can play wide too). We've got bodies in CM...

For the first time in a long time, it feels we have the right numbers.

I’d still like another CM, would like another no 10 maybe on loan (e.g. Loftus Cheek) and certainly be open to any options for the future e.g. Colwill

Are we desperate for anything else?

I think that's a good summation of where we're at. We probably could do with another goal scoring/creative midfielder, but if Eze stays fit and Olise recovers then we should still be fine on that front. I think any more signings are a bonus, but if we really did want to push for the top 8 then in reality I would say we still need to make a couple of top quality signings, but I doubt we have the £60-80 million it would take to get those.

As opposed to bygone days when we were reliant on experienced players, who were pivotal to our survival, we have gallivanted down a different path.
The danger is that in just purchasing young players with potential, clubs are perhaps looking too far into the future when of course remaining in the PL is imperative.I suppose it is all about getting the balance right.

I don’t think we are desperate in any position and overall happy with our squad. As with probably all teams I would like a proper number 9. Not convinced OE or JPM will add enough numbers, albeit I like both of them. I would have like to have seen someone like Batshuayi in this team.

Scored 17 goals last season for Besiktas who finished 6th in 'Ligi 1'.

Yes, agree we have recruited well.

GK and defence definitely look stronger this year. We were short across the back four last year and luckily had few injuries or loss of form. The few games Tomkins did play showed how uncomfortable he was in possession so i can't see him playing too much this season (injury permitting). A fit Fergie and new signing Richards gives us options across the back - both as cover and also if we are going to play 3-5-2 at times.

Midfield is still a bit of a concern IMHO. Hopefully Jimmy Mac can stay fit as he is still an important performer. CG will be a difficult position to fill as there are few players who have his energy. Assuming Eze plays in that number 10 position we gain in creatively but lose the energy and tackling ability of CG. I think we need 2 defence minded midfielders to accommodate Eze. I'm assuming this is Doucoure and an.other - probably Macca ahead of Hughes IMHO (not convinced by Schlupp as a CM).

I think we are ok in attack. Eduoard is a better player than he showed consistently last season and Mateta is still learning but did ok 2nd half of season. We only play 1 up top so not sure we need more options assuming Tekkers stays.
Wilf is still an important player when he is up for it. I'd be happy if he performs for us and runs down his contract. At 30 next year he will still be able to get a move for Champions League football assuming that is still what he wants.

Plange and Ebiowei look good options as impact subs.

Hopefully a fit and more experienced Olise will see an improvement on last season. Yes he was great at times, but also went AWOL and his defensive side is poor. No goals in the league when he started a game must also be improved upon. Can still see Ayew starting some of the away games due to his workrate.

Very good so far, i would like us to offload Luka, Ben & Eddie and get another striker, even if its a Loan.

Probably, but what I suspect you wish for would blow the club's budget.

We are still trying to be a club run sustainably at a time of increasing costs, rising inflation and major capital projects to finance, not to mention staying in a division that is possibly beyond our means.

I agree the OP. The window has been pretty good, save getting gazumped by WHU on Flynn.

I am of the same viewpoint.

In defence, I have never been overly impressed with Andersen.I accept he has ability on the ball and can 'Ping' a pass but as an out-and-out defender he is found wanting with his lack of pace and his mobility on the turn.
