Roma and Crystal Palace could negotiate shock swap deal for Zaha [Link] via [Link]

Likely bollocks, never heard of this fella but I don't watch Serie A.

In the unlikely event of Wilf going there this striker should be no more than a makeweight in the deal. There is another report that Palace are looking at him for up to €12 million. However much promise he may have he's only scored 2 goals so that seems unrealistic but take this valuation and Man U's cut off Wilf's fee and there's not a lot left.
Why would we trade a proven player for someone who might work out?

As i posted in another Zaha thread, Clinton & AJ spring to mind.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Think hes the fella that when he scored his first goal Mourinho bought him a pair of Gucci trainers (or similar). They made a big thing of it like when people record giving homeless people money! No idea if hes any good

from his Skills vids (which appears to be mostly taken from reserves/U23 etc matches) he seems fairly tasty. quick, direct and strong.

and obvs. those goals for the 1st team are top notch.

If we get a good deal, then why not - like replacing Wilf with a younger model. still, a lot to prove and a lot that can go wrong.

A bit like A Sorloth did on his vids.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

He's a pure attacker, fast and skilful, can take a man on and beat him, different from Benteke, Mateta and Edouard. If we're interested in him, I'd guess it's because he'd give us a different option up front.

Very highly rated coming through (which I'm well aware means little; great youngsters often fall at the last hurdle) but not entirely surprisingly he fell away a bit after a fast start when he originally broke into the Roma team. He's the sort of player we wouldn't have been able to sign in a million years if he'd kept up his breakthrough pace but it appears now we can. Mourinho's let plenty of young players go before who've gone on to make their mark (Salah, DeBruyne anyone?) He's also Ghanaian so I'd guess Ayew would put a protective arm around him and be able to nurture him into the PL.

If Zaha has decided to go (remember, it's his decision, not ours) I'm not averse to Felix as part of the deal. At least it reduces the cash that Man Utd. get a percentage of. Felix is probably not a sure thing but he has a very high ceiling given his age and history and if he does fulfil his potential, we'd be laughing. And I trust Vieira and his team to know how to develop a player.

I defo agree with this. Its all about timing for us, Wilf and this Felix fella. Personally, it feels like the time is right for all parties to make moves. Ofcourse, if Wilf goes and we have pony season it will be down to the club for letting him go....

I assume Man Utd would still get the agreed proportion of the total sell-on price, rather than the net amount Palace received after a player exchange, so Palace might have to dip into their piggy-bank to make up any shortfall?

In the Zaha Stay or go thread I think it was Dubai Eagle who first bought up the possibility of us getting someone in exchange. I did look at the Roma squad to see if there would be anyone we could be interested in but my knowledge does not extend far enough to know if there were any possibilities.

However, it is my understanding that this was in response to the reports that Roma going for Wilf is dependent on them having to sell to free up finances. Felix Afena Gyan is on £13,000 p/w. I do not believe this plus whatever equivalent fee he would command would be enough to enable Roma to make up the difference.

I fear that eventually when the Afcon is on we will only have 3 players left

So they get a player who has been arguably our best player for most of the last 10 years and we get a kid with little experience who may or may not be any good. Sounds like the worst swap deal in footballing history to me.
