Just seen articles on Newsnow that Mcarthur has picked up an injury in pre season.

Expected to miss start of new season

Getting one or two central midfielders is imperative.

He deserved his contract extension because of the player he has been for us but sadly we will be lucky to get 10 games out of him.

This makes the miss on the Flynn Downes transfer even more painful.

No he didn't, too old and injury prone, sentimental hogwash

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I wouldn't word it quite as bluntly as Lanzo-Ad, but I do agree with him. Paying a footballer tens of thousands of pounds a week based on past, loyal (and extremely well-paid) service is economic madness.

a groin injury - is it a tear or a strain? Could be out for 1 month or 3. Will need to rest for the next month and then hopefully is ready for early Sept.

An important squad member

Thats a real blow , a fit macca would have done us good regardless of age but unfortunately looks like his body is rejecting running around like an 18 year old

Was hoping last seasons injuries were one offs , I really do hope its not the end for J Mac

Sadly I think we need to brace ourselves for sporadic appearances. I guess this vindicates the one year at a time policy for over 30’s.

After last season I never thought of him as a certain starter irrespective of his retention. You can't really rely on an injury prone player to lead to line and be an essential part of a combative midfield. A season on the bench with the occasional appearance and the professional experience he can bring to the dressing room will be what to expect.

one of our best players last season. A huge blow for us.

was this injury caused during holidays or back at training?

He is no spring chicken and is a Terrier in midfield so age plus injury's this could be his last season with us , his style of play injury's will happen , we are going after midfield players so no issue with me

I heard it was while lifting his wage packet into the car boot.
