If you were hoping this is about the street dancing rugrats on BGT I do sincerely apologise. I also apologise if this is to closely lined to a former thread. I did however want to address this topic just as a mid-morning rant given it is something that has unsettled me for some time and I stumbled across this: [Tweet Link]
1. Young(er) girl Does anyone actually look at this and think 'Ah, isn't that all lovely, we are all welcome and included and those people look like me therefore any doubts I had about attending football matches or supporting a team have been removed'... Or... Are people more inclined to interpret it in a way I do - "Well they've ticked as many boxes as they thought they'd get away with there, there was probably a lack of crackheads, middle aged Asian women, young black guys and young women buying ludicrously priced replica kits and they're trying to target those markets, or maybe just not have depressed, over/underweight, unemployable, bullied at school types attacking them on social media". I just don't see the logic in it whatsoever, from both marketer and target audience, perhaps I am just losing it a bit as I get on but for me it devalues valid causes, feels extremely patronising, is painfully obviously profit driven and projects a false image of reality. How long before the Heroin addicts, Dogging enthusiasts, Pagans, Ambidextrous, Double-jointed, Bhutanese, Gluten Intolerant and Restless Leg communities are catered to or start rioting and causing mayhem as they are 'not represented' or 'not visible' in society, will they take to twitter to berate the world, start riots and protests etc? 'Tis Rhubarb I tells ya!!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I try to boycott any kind of company or product, if possible, that indulges in this kind of BS. Block any online advertising from them. However, what annoys me is when they try to shoe-horn different groups by way of saving money. So for example a black lesbian in a wheelchair. Come on, that is cheating. If they are going to do 'woke', then do it properly. Don't skimp.

How often do you see an old man wearing a replica shirt? Most of us give up in middle age. My issue with the advertising industry is that the demographics they display are wrong. Not all women who wear makeup are gorgeous but you accept a little bit of poetic licence. However if you are going down the inclusivity route then do it correctly. Far too many mixed race TV families bears no relation to reality. Where are the fat people and Chavs at McDonalds and KFC? Why are men continually shown as stupid yet the advertisers wouldn't dare make those adverts with a woman in that role. Global brands preaching morality to us whilst employing child labour and polluting the planet. I could go on.

As a 62 year old male, white, in glasses ( most of the time) replica shirt wearing Palace fan - I am offended, lol Originally posted by Badger11

Not one Pacific Islander either! Oh wait, I forgot, they all absolutely love Rugby of course. Outdated stereotyping. I bet you not one of them was left footed either. Bigots.

just makes me think,..."there's someone trying too hard to tick all the boxes." Why not just be done with it, have a rainbow kit and two mixed-race lady-boys going at each other with a root vegetable.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

If the Palace one was to represent the area it would have to be three black people, an obvious Muslim, a homeless cripple of non descript colour and a retired old white lady with a stick.

The distortion in advertising but more in fiction is one of the things that annoys me the most because it is constantly visible. Unfortunately, the steady subjugation of the British goes much deeper. This is the real world, not the bloody BBC/Sky/ITN fantasy.
