So it appears Gareth is postponing his retirement until after the World Cup.

The question for me is whether or not Bale would have a positive impact on the squad. I have my doubts given his issues at RM. Also, Spurs don't seem to be in a hurry to have him back. Let him go to Cardiff.

A big no from me. He is purely self serving as his career has shown. He is another Aaron Ramsey.

Would love to see him play in the World Cup and surely it's most players dream to be there, so it's a no brainer to put off retirement for a few months. He is tried and tested, and is their biggest hope. I'm sure if he's looking to stay match fit, we can be of service . Like you say not 'likely' anyway, but would be quite a turn of events. Not for me either. As much as I think he still has some decent football left in him, he's too much of a Prima Donna and would disrupt the dressing room. Anyway, how much of his £600k pw salary would he be prepared to cut I wonder? Nice idea cryrst, but let Cardiff make him an offer.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

While we may well set the bar higher, we'd hardly be bringing a complete loose cannon into the team, and it would be time limited. I do get your view, you may well be right. I just think it make make for a short and interesting chapter. If there's deemed to be a bigger down than up side, than perhaps it would be a non starter as you say.

No good for us, especially his £600,000 week wages. Far better to go for that other 'short term' solution, namely Where is our midfield 'general' since the days of Michael Hughes, Cabaye and Bannon? Such a player is vital to our progress. We have nobody, except perhaps Eze, in our current line-up to fill this paramount position. If the worse came to the worse I'd go for Jonjo Shelvey.

I'd be inclined to think the evaluation would be more financial than anything. What would four months be? Potentially a £4mil at least? And a very good chance of him turning up, swanning round London and Beckenham golf course and making three awful sub appearances. If he wants to play for free to keep fit fine, only an opinion of course but a no from me. Edited by Nicholas91 (07 Jun 2022 12.55pm)
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
