He’s called Eberechi Eze
But thank you, Conor, you have been terrific with the Eagles, and good luck to you, wherever you play next season.

Absolutely, obviously a man of intelligence.

Eze is a great player and gets in the side, but he’s not the same as Conor, both tenacity and work rate-wise.

“On his first day at Palace he told me he wanted to play for England, a bold statement for someone who had just walked in off a Building site!”

Two very different players IMHO.

Eze - Skill, technical capability, set pieces, bit of flair.

Gallagher - Industry/energy/work-rate, positioning, ability to join attack yet still fulfill midfield role, can finish/looks to put the ball in the back of the net.

Not a perfect statement by any stretch but they almost have each-others weaknesses as strengths. I would agree on where to play them however, for me they should both be 'attacking midfielders' but it is very rare you see two in the same XI. Eze not a winger for me as has been tried, just don't like it,

Depends which one best fits the team/style/game as we progress (on the assumption CG would stay). I feel like Eze has the capability to make a mockery of weaker teams but for derbies, when your back is against the wall, against 'bigger' clubs I'd rather have Conor in there. I also feel as though Eze has the ability to put in '11 out of 10' performances once for every few '3, 4 or 5 out of 10' performances, whereas Conor will give you 6,7 or 8 out of 10 performances all season. Just my take of course happy to be challenged.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I praise the sentiment behind your post but 2 completely different players... We can try and dress it up as much as we want but we are going to massively miss Gallagher next season...

From my own personal point of view I've never seen anyone in a Palace shirt with such a ridiculous work rate as Gallagher... I'm not comparing them but the last player I saw in a Palace shirt with the tenacity are chasing the ball down was Andy Johnson which obviously was some time ago..

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Obviously not though, two completely different players as those above have stated, but at least there’s two of you now Lanzo.

Eze could use Gallagher's work rate, and Gallagher could use Eze's natural skills. They are almost exactly opposite players.

In terms of work rate, I think Macca is the closest we have to Gallagher, but Gallagher provides some goals, which Macca doesn't.

All that being said, I think Gallagher doesn't have enough natural skill to start for Chelsea. He got off to a red hot start for us, but since then, hasn't been a scoring threat. If you just saw his last 6-8 matches for us, you'd have no idea what all the fuss is about. I've noticed his first touch often lets him down. These are things that he may get better at, but at the moment, I think he's still riding the hype off his first few matches with us.

It's been a bad scenario where Gallagher got off to such a hot start, that it made it unlikely we could buy or loan him next year. But at the same time, he has cooled off so much that it looks very unlikely he could crack Chelsea's starting lineup. So he's a bit in purgatory. Too good for us, not good enough for Chelsea. No idea where he will be next year, but I'd wager it won't be in Chelsea's starting XI.

For me eze is more like grealish than Connor. Makes the game look effortless when he glides past players. Doesn’t look quick when running but players struggle to keep up with him and also knows how to put his body in the way to win a free kick.

Connor adds tenacity to our midfield. before jimmy Mac got injured those 2 were the reason we were doing well as they both run around nipping at ankles like terriers.

With all the talk of teams looking at olise the real question is would you sell olise to keep Connor?? Personally I would rather keep olise as he is unpredictable.

Completely agree. There’s a reason he’s come off after 60 mins two games in a row now
