I have a bad feeling they could both leave in the summer, if the 35m release clause is true then i cant see that not being matched, and the Sun (i know) saying this morning Wilf will not sign a new contract, not a appetizing prospect.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Not great news of course but for me if we were to see this situation, the analysis of it would be dependant on the reinvestment of funds. Wilf is the greatest Palace player of my lifetime, and I love him accordingly, however his departure whilst it would be a shame, I do not feel would be the greatest of tragedies at this stage. Mickey Olise is still an exciting prospect however, for me anyway, he still has some to do to really step up and be a player we desperately cling to. If both were to leave, and we invested wisely in two new wingers, I would not be overly pessimistic. I would also suggest any PL team, not just us, who look to blood and invest in young talent and rejuvenate their squad will, in the instance of any success, inevitably face losing their brightest gems. A lot of if's and but's, we'll see.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

My understanding is that IF there is a release clause for Olise it only comes into play if we are relegated. Only what I've heard. As for Wilf, it would be ironic if he left this summer. Palace look and feel like a club on the up as opposed to treading water which we have been the last few years. He could play a huge part in keeping that momentum going. If Parish can manage financially so that we can keep him and risk him going on a Free next summer, then I think he will.

Zaha us replaceable with youth. All part of the cycle/turnover of talent. Olise's are harder to find at the price we got him

How many years has Wilf got left being a guaranteed starter at Palace let alone a better team? I'd guess two, absolute max three. We aren't going to get a fortune for him regardless. May as well let him run down his contract if that's his wish. He's been a great contributor to the club's history and has earned our gratitude whatever happens next in his career.

Hope you are right about the Clause, we cannot let Wilf go for free, so its new contract or highest bidder, from the clubs point of view, Wilf may think different

Wilf has chipped in with important goals this season and while earlier in the season his antics were becoming frustrating again, in recent times he seems to be finally concentrating on his football and not complaining. He's only scored two goals less than Mane this season in the PL and only one less than Kane, while scoring more than Mahrez, Fernandes, and Saka (among others). In footballing terms he is still one of the most dangerous players in the PL, but I think the question has always been over how easily riled he becomes. Personally I think he'll stay unless Arsenal decided they wanted to add some experience to their youthful ranks. Newcastle could afford him, but I don't think they would go for him and I don't think he'd go there. Olise should hopefully push on after being eased into the PL this season. If he continues to progress then he has the look of a top-four player, but I don't think he'll go anywhere this summer as at the moment I think we would probably value him much higher than most clubs would be willing to pay.
