Considering that real inflation is probably closer to 10 percent than its published figure there is bound to be an eventual effect onto people's leisure spending.

A lot of the deals for football, boxing and other sports involve extremely large salaries and you can't help but think that this will effect them as well.

The government has just announced an independent regulator for football to cover finance and ownership amongst other things. No date for when this will happen or how much power the regulator will have but if it lives up to the hype this can only be a good thing for football.

The FA has completely failed the game and the fans and allowed the Premier League or rather the big 6 to run the game for their benefit.

I think players wages will stabilize or go down as the likes of the big Italian and Spanish clubs can't compete so apart from the elite players there is little competition outside the PL.

Palace have shown the way to go by reducing their wage bill.

I wonder how much football will be affected. Football is a necessity to many and for many who go I expect there are other ways they can save money. Fewer takeaways, fewer clothes and shoe purchases, holidays etc. People have even got used to saving money on haircuts.

The few who decide not to go due to the living costs squeeze may not be such a loss in the premier league considering it’s corporate and tv revenue that matters, and again, football on tv is another essential to many. It could hurt clubs in leagues below however.

I find it a bit annoying when I hear people claim they’re paying more on energy bills than rent or their mortgage on the radio. Complete rubbish. What’s the average wage spent on rent/mortgage? Half the country would be defaulting and there would be property market crash. Maybe if they’re Middlesbrough for example this could could be true.

A lot of people are going to be added to the struggling list and do well to learn to cook rather than heat prepared stuff and treats.

I think there is a very realistic chance of that happening in fairly short order.

Probably requires a recession what with the excess demand over supply of houses. It’s nearly 14 years since the last real recession and sticking plasters (furlough) prevented there being a proper one in 2020 in the developed world. 14 years is well overdue after preventing one from natural (or Wuhan made) causes this time rather than the usual- Greed.
