That performance tonight has convinced me that we can win the FA Cup this season and be a force next season. So much talent in this team. Granted we still have to overcome Chelsea, but if we play like this then they are in for a hell of a game. Ok if got through we would have to play the two best teams in Europe, probably the world. But Man City are the only team we have found hard to handle so far, which seems a strange thing to say because we have got 4 points off them this season!!!! We have proved we can give Liverpool a proper game as well. It shows how far we have come. Also now Unbeaten in the last 7 games with 4 clean sheets as well. Really exciting times

It is really amazing when you think of what a transformation we've had. Spending on Andersen and Guehi worked out beautifully. Mateta had one foot out the door, but we kept him, and now he looks legit.

We used to be hopeless without Wilf, but now we're fine if he's not in the lineup. We were struggling without Macca for a while, but then we started to play well without him. (Obviously it's better when he's back)

PV seemed like he was tinkering too much with the lineup at times, but the benefit is it seems like all our players are fighting for spots, and when we play backups, they look like they belong in the team. It really seems like the players enjoy playing for him.

Clyne and Schlupp have both looked better as this season went on. Andersen and Guehi had shaky moments early in the season, but they have progressed into a great young pair.

Overall, it's been a great transformation, and provides hope for the upcoming years. Losing Gallagher is probably our biggest concern, but we still have some spots that will be opened up when Benteke, Luka, and Ward move on. Imagine if we could replace them with young talent?

Mateta has silenced a lot of critics in recent weeks. Been playing well and getting important goals.

Luckily we will only have to play one of the two.

Mateta fast becoming a cult figure. Phenomenal workrate also plays with a smile on his face and his goal celebration is a joy to behold

Apart from the obvious: Anderson/Guehi, Mitchell, Olise and Gallagher what I have most pleased with this season is the vast improvement of Mateta and the belief he has now. A proper CF for us and I can only applaud PV for persevering with him.

But also Wilf, who is playing his best football for quite a while. No tantrums, working hard, as he heads to the Autumn of his career he is proving to be quite a footballer again, different and not so fast but much more intelligent.

Totally agree - Mateta is such a handful. Strong in the air, has good pace and knows where the goal is. What an improvement. Still learning (e.g. the odd stupid offside) but definitely 1st choice.

I thought Wilf was great yesterday. Worked really hard from the off, no moaning, and a great run firstly to win the pen, and then take it.

That was possibly our most consistent all round performance of the season in that we didn’t let Arsenal into the game other than for a brief spell in the second half and all of our players gave at least an 8 out of 10 display.
Ayew even smiled in the post match interview.
Vieira made an interesting observation about Mateta when he said that he doesn’t need many chances to score.
That’s a useful attribute to have.
A minor criticism in the second half where we got caught in possession dribbling on the edge of our own penalty area which led to a few dangerous situations, but other than that an excellent display.

Spot on. I think it is clear Wilf is really enjoying his football again and with that the petulance has disappeared. He is playing some of his best football as part of an exceptional team, Long may it continue.

I don't say this with any intention of being a 'back-handed' compliment, but Wilf looks to finally be maturing as a player. Didn't hold high hopes of that happening but PV has evidently done something which is only beneficial to both us and our beloved son!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
