Our American directors Harris and Blitzer are part of a consortium trying to buy Chelsea. What are the implications for Palace as they cannot have shares in both clubs.

If they win the bid they have to sell their Palace interest. Not sure if current other owners e.g. Textor has first dibs or how they are valued

That's when they will find out what the top division is all about. Don't know the ins and outs about their stake involving us but by God they are in for a shock with Chelsea.

Chelsea leak shed loads of money. Abrahamovic has been picking up the bill for twenty years. These two tight b******s will need to stick their hands in their pockets a lot more often. I don’t really know why they are interested in getting involved with a bidding consortium.

I don’t really know why they are interested in getting involved with a bidding consortium. Let me re phrase this. Chelsea are in for one helluva shock. Having had 29 years of Abramovich generosity, they are about to discover that new owners Garris and Blitzer do not like spending money. Even though they are worth at least 60% of the Russian their spend ethic is terrible. Our time has come boys! Assuming we hang on to all our assets, manager, coaches, players etc. with our astute scouting and buying with Texters money and whoever joins the party to take H&B shares we could go Champions league.

That may well be the case at Palace where they are minority shareholders but things could be different if they become majority shareholders in Chelsea but even so I don't see them winning the battle for the club

A good spend ethic is not spunking money willy-nilly in an attempt to buy glory (whether you can afford it or not). It's living sensibly, looking after your investment and increasing its value, achieving success in steps, and making sure the direction of travel is upward, consistent, and sustainable. Like it or not, Palace under Harris and Blitzer have achieved all that. And more. Many seem to want a gazillionaire owner at Palace who chucks money in every direction and turns us into the next Man City. Personally, I don't. I'm not saying Harris and Blitzer are perfect. I'm not saying a little more investment wouldn't have been welcome. But the OP is a joke. Harris and Blitzer have been owners of Palace during the most successful period in the club's history. To some people, I'd suggest getting a grip and appreciating what you've got. And be careful what you wish for.

I agree with your comments about not wanting a gazillionaire owner though. It seems like a very hollow sort of success and I don't know how Manchester City fans enjoy it. However, I am desperate to see us win something and play European football before I die. Probably got about 40 years for it to happen. Maybe 30 given the beer drinking. If it does happen though, it would be far more enjoyable if we do it with the current model, using youth academy players and young talents who we've bought cheaply and built up.

As somebody said before if they are ultimately successful then they would have to give up their share in us, hopefully we can buy back at a knock down price and be a more self sufficient club with our academy hopefully baring fruit

I'm not sure about 'and n more' though. What did you have in mind, Syd? As for H & B and Chelsea, it will be interesting to see if they even make the short list. Edited by doombear (25 Mar 2022 9.33am)
