Apologies for starting yet another thread in a few days (I'll try not to make a habit of it!) but just seen Little Britain is available again on iPlayer.

Liked it, wasn't a massive fan, but gave it another go and think it is brilliant, makes one reminisce too!

It has been supposedly edited to "better reflect the changes in the cultural landscape of the UK", which to me indicates it was perceived to have to much humour in it originally.

Glad to see it back, glad to have it back. Had society become so bereft of anything interesting to indulge in that we'd resorted to vilifying what I would see as a harmless sketch show which surely serves the most British purpose indeed, making fun of ourselves! Perhaps the looming prospect of nuclear war has bought people down to earth?

Watched a Vicky Pollard sketch earlier, in which as a female 'chav' she starts berating and accusing a Security Guard of racism, sexual assault etc when he nabs her for blatant shoplifting. Would like to see a SJW warrior version of that!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Alright keep your hair on....

My point was surrounding the censorship of comedy not the series itself.

Yeah but no but yeah but no!

It's not exactly high brow but i don't think it pretends to be. A bit like Bo Selecta, there is humour in the absurdity of the characters but also a few truths behind them too.

The Australian Show 'Summer Heights' is along the same lines too. Worth a watch.

I agree that Mrs Browns Boys is sh!t though .

Both were vastly overrated.

LOL (to BALDeagle)that's actually a funnier joke than Little Britain. Actually an article popped up on my news feed the other day & although I didn't read it in full they reckon that the BBC have deleted over 70% of their old archived material

On the subject of TV censorship I was Watching an episode of the Good life last night. Tom Good walked into the paper shop to pick up a magazine. Behind him was the magazine racks and the whole of the Top shelf was blurred out. I am pretty sure you would struggle to see anything offensive.

Nothing is as bad as mrs browns boys, well maybe that Friday night dinner s***.

I liked the first series of little Britain, but it did get a bit tedious, the same joke from the same characters every episode

I have to admit I agree there. The characters themselves are very good IMO however you do get that feeling of once you've seen one episode, you've seen them all.

Perhaps I was over-exuberant in my opinion of it giving my viewing hiatus of about a decade but still miffed at some societal dictate to remove it from our consciousness!

Obviously anything with different skin colour will be removed now but I’m amazed Emily “I’m a Lady” Howard is still allowed. Maybe the joke is now anyone who thinks she’s not a lady.
