Great news, she"s on the plane home! Despite our bungling idiot of a prime minister saying she was training journalists five years ago, when she was only showing her baby to her folks on holiday, which didn"t go down at all well with Iran, she"s finally free. The £400 million has finally been paid, probably in aid but none the less, a deal has been struck, a debt finally paid, and a mother and wife coming home- great news in the current climate!

I can't imagine Britain paying 400 mil but I am glad they've let her go. I'd suspect a prisoner exchange or some such.

She's served the time she was sentenced to I understand and very good news.

Yes, that sounds about right. Am happy for her and her family. Her husband campaigned tirelessly and kept this in the public eye. Kudos to him.

Let's hope they don't head off to holiday in pakistan or North Korea.

Good news although I think the BBC for once has it right. Iran's economy has tanked due to sanctions they need to sell oil and guess who needs to buy it?

Win win for both sides. Labour can moan all they like about Boris going from one dodgy regime to another but right now we have no choice. Until we have energy independence we will have to rely on dodgy regimes.

Yep unfortunately the oil seems to be mainly in the hands of dodgy regimes. Perhaps more should have supported nuclear energy

I dare say that as a former Foreign Secretary he knows a darn sight more about the circumstances than you ever will cp.

Like when he incorrectly referred to her as a journalist resulting in the Iranians being even more suspicious of her?

We had a simple choice of honouring our obligations over the order, Iran have been completely in the right this whole affair.

The debt should have been paid and none of this would have happened it would have been forgotten.

The UK likes to lecture about the rule of law and adhering to contracts but in reality it is as rotten as a pear.

Rent's pretty cheap in Iran. I guess you could even buy.
