Showing my youth here but I was thinking about some of the lesser mentioned Palace players within the context of 'Palace Greats' conversations and wondered if anybody would care to share their heroes past and possibly present. The likes of Wilf, AJ, Cannon, Byrne, Hopkin, Wright, Lombardo etc etc get frequently mentioned however I'd very much like to hear of more personal heroes over the generations! As an example, some of mine were:

Tuttle
Muscat
Edworthy

Gordon
Dyer

Absolutely idolised Mullins at one point (heart broke when he left and damage unfortunately irreversible)
Riihilahti (Kolkka honourable mention, loved him!)
Granville
Darren Ward
Butterfield
Julian Gray
Nicky Carle
Michael Hughes (Loved him like a father who never even knew I existed!)
Morrison
P McCarthy
Ambrose

The remarkably still playing in Europe Jose Fonte!!
Emerson Boyce
Kiraly/Speroni
Jobi Macanuff
(Anyone else remember that stunner vs Leeds?)

OK, some more obvious ones there. Could go on forever, but that's not a bad snapshot of my 30 years! Once more, would love to hear of any others!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The Icelandic centre half Herman H* spotted by the Chairman's wife and signed on her recommendation.

*I can't spell his last name something like Hereidasson

When all the kids in the play ground at school or down the park wanted to be Kevin Keegan or Kenny Dalglish, I wanted to be Barry Silkman great hair, Cool name and a good tricky little player, what’s not to like? Peter Taylor had left, so Silks was next in line for the young monkey hero worship

Also a mention for Clint Hill definitely up there as one of my recent palace history hero’s. Hard as nails, gave his all and with a cool name like Clint, he was always going to be hard to dislike anyway

Barry Silkman went on to become an agent and his clients included (And might still include) Demba Ba, Ravel Morrison, Danny Welbeck etc.

Apropos Clint Hill, he was assistant to Joey Barton at Fleetwood, both of course were not strangers to red cards.

I have spoken to Gavin Nebbeling a few times over the years.
He came over from South Africa and played over 150 games for us.
Very nice chap indeed.
