I've kept this unopened bottle of Bollinger Champagne for 30 years. It'll be long gone but I kind of just like looking at it. What's the oldest thing you own?

We are not collectors of antiques or old stuff generally, so the oldest things in the house are probably some old pennies minted during the eighteen hundreds which are neither very interesting or valuable. Our oldest possession of note is, I think, an upright, oak panelled wind up HMV gramophone model 157 dated around 1925. Looks lovely and is in full working order. It was left to Mrs POG with a substantial collection of 78s by an old lady who was a neighbour before we met.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
