Odious little man's obnoxious behaviour now on the record, good riddance.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Heard him interviewed. Denies everything. Called out his innocence in a hectoring, bullying tone. UNLOCK!

Much missed always found him impartial tolerant and fun. A kangaroo court never even had a hearing. Who would care what the HOC thinks anyway. Don't criticise that joke organisation NATO or we will ban you from our party.

It's an easily ridiculed and perhaps childish position to take but occasionally, only occasionally, there is very good justification for somebody to be punched in the mouth, and I mean properly, for their own sake as well as others.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

The basic job of the Speaker is to be impartial, something that Bercow was not - whether you agreed with his politics or not, that was what was completely unacceptable. He should have been sacked at the time. Impartiality is basically the main criterion of the job.

Don't criticise that joke organisation NATO or we will ban you from our party. Not sure how we're defining impartial here. Openly stating his own views on government business and taking a very definite side on an issue in front of the Commons - is that impartial?

But he was also a malevolent person, as demonstrated by his nasty, sneering words to MPs - "Calm down, man, you're not doing your heart any good", and many similar put-downs.

He was certainly a character, but I can well believe much of what is being said about him.

Worst speaker I can remember, #bringbackbetty
