Surely it's time for Scott Banks to make the step up to the 1st team, especially when Gallagher's time with us is limited. He has a great shot on him, especially from free kicks. He looked impressive in the Under 23s and surely must be given a chance on a bigger stage.

Let's keep the ball this season!

He really does have a wicked free kick in him.

However in open play he still has a lot to learn from what I've seen.

I don't see him being close to a first team place this season.

If you have a set-piece situation, and you can get him on as a sub, its well worth a try.

Problem he's got is he has JRS in front of him. He is also behind in terms of ability from what ive seen imo.

If the game was played as in American football style where you can bring a player on for a single play then absolutely he should be on the bench being brought on for free kicks around the box - ( Or maybe a free kick in the dying minutes of a game) Where I struggle to see him being effective is he still seems lightweight in stature compared to the rigorous requirements of playing substantial minutes in the PL.

Phil Alexander played as a 'Kicker' in American football for the London Monarchs.

From what I've seen Wells-Morrison looks more likely to get in ahead of Banks. The latter does seem to drift in and out of games and I've heard Bright criticising him in commentary for that. I'm hoping that we do see more of the youngsters before the end of the season as it is one of the more joyful moments, like when Adaramola came on against Hartlepool.

I tend to agree. Banks' forte is his free-kick ability, even getting the ball up and over the wall and on target from the edge of the penalty area. Not many PL players can do that. However, his overall contribution outside of free-kicks is often patchy and Wells-Morrison looks the more promising with his desire to boss the midfield whenever he can.

Mitchell's continued rise can only encourage our youngsters to keep at it because the time will come for the best of them to show what they can do. You mentioned Adaramola and I'm hoping will quickly become Mitchell's back-up on the bench and then challenge him for a starting place. it's a shame we don't have a RB who could be knocking on the first team door before the end of the season.

Back to Scott Banks. As good as his free kicks are, I have my doubts that he'll make it in the PL.

Think Banks is the pick of youth set up from what I've seen. His quality looks obvious

Class player. I'm disappointed Vieira has not filtered some of these great prospects through, like Banks and Dan Quick. If they were playing at Southampton or somewhere like that, i'm sure they would have been blooded. Maybe when we are definitel safe, they will be.

I've been encouraged by the strength of our academy and while doubt has been cast upon this model I also think it's part of the self image and culture of the club to want strong youth sides. I think it can work given time both for the first team and in sales and while some may not regard it as important it's also good for both the reputation and self assurance of the club.
