Change of approach for certain games

Perhaps it's the disappointment of watching the last two games but I do question whether we would better playing two up front in matches against poorer teams like Norwich and Brentford.
We can be laboured in possession and in long spells play with no pace or purpose with the cureent system.
By all means don't risk two up front against the best teams, but it is evident that the current way of playing is not getting us the wins that a more adventurous and aggressive approach could well result in.

I think a degree of Royesque caution has crept into Vieira's thinking. It's all plod plod plod, side to side rubbish with no real vitality and movement. Schlupp was a favourite of Roy's and now inexplicably he is one of Vieira's. It's difficult to fathom, but it shows how much the initial season's energy from Gallagher is missing in latest performances.

We are experiencing a team in transition.

A manager not knowing his best 11
A manager learning about the teams he is playing
A manager not being able to use all his players at any one time to build momentum and identify the best fit team

Disappointment and negativity is cloaking us in a fog and with good reason.

We have skilful players and players with energy, but can't create enough chances and don't have any clinical finishers of the likes of Andy Johnson or Glenn Murray. Schlupp might make it as a winger but is anonymous in midfield and negativity is the order of the day with poor passing, a wretched return from the many corners we get and very mediocre results against lower teams.

MacArthur must return to the midfield and our two most skilful players, Olise and Eze must be given a chance to gel in the team and not be bit-part substitutes. Schlupp and Ayew must make way
and possibly Hughes for McArthur.

It is a toss up between Benteke, Mateta and Edouard who is the least effective of our No.9's. Ayew works hard but has no end product and certainly can't score.

Yes, a change of approach is required for all games from now on.

What annoys the hell out of me is that unlike previous seasons, we have players now to be so much better than we currently are. Olise is our most effective attacking, yet we drop him because Ward needs more defensive cover, FFS drop Ward then. If Clyne isn't up to it, give Riedleward a go at RB. He played his best football at full back.
How many times does it need to show that Schlupp is not a central midfielder. He was poor there under Roy and now under PV. We need a proper defensive midfielder in there to release Gallagher and Hughes who are more creative players.
Up top, I really dont know. I expecting good things of Edouard and I think he is still the best CF we have, but he needs better players around him. Meteta is more mobile than Benteke, but is he really PL quality ? As for Benteke, misses more than he scores and ambles around the pitch.
Something needs to change otherwise it's going to be a scrap to get over line this season. The 2 games against Watford are massive.

One of the very basic problems we had under Roy has still not been resolved put the ball in the box quickly.

We keep messing about to much and way to much cutting inside trying to walk the ball into the box Wilf is one of the worst for this.

You look at the players we have why do we not do quick counter attacks anymore this whole keeping the ball stuff is very annoying a time and place for this not all the time going back to the keeper putting him under pressure as well.

PV needs to tell Wilf it straight put some effort in he has become very lazy just walking around thinking he can be alone striker also he slows up play everytime he gets the ball plus with him no longer having any pace he cant even beat people anymore so he should be trying to put in crosses quickly
