1, Mateta is easily our best CF he is young and a bit Raw but knows how to play the role
2. Ayew is our second best CF he can hold the ball up well, win free kicks but is not a good finisher
3, Edouard hasn't got a clue how to play CF, he has skill, strength but no movement, i have no idea his position.
4, Benteke, least said the better

Maybe Nketiah(if we get him) or Plange will have more idea next season

The problem to my mind is that PV hasn't yet discovered his ideal starting 11 for his preferred 4-3-3. Ultimately someone is going to end up not playing or playing out of position.

Its amusing to see how many ways you can think of to have dig at Benteke. Even putting Ayew above him, who has scored once in the last 2 seasons.

Oh, i can think of many more, But Ayew is better than Benteke at CF, he is not a winger and knows how to play the role, which leaves him in a list of two

Let's be honest: if you rate a centre-forward in terms of goalscoring prowess, then none of them is much cop.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Mateta is impressing me.

He isn't great in position but his movement is a million times better than Benteke. Which is so important in this system.

Surprised as we are not going long very often why OE isnt been given a run up top

I've been impressed with Mateta, as many have mentioned he is very raw and will get better. However I can understand why Vieira was looking at someone like Nketia, a differnt type to what we have who can run behind. For all JPM's qualities he is another striker we have acquired that isnt going to get us 10+ goals a season, in my opinion.

Also Plange will be available next season.
Edouard is better at running with the ball than being a target man. Olise has shown he’s quite adept with his crosses and may be able to pick Benteke out better than his predecessors.

Stupid, pointless thread. We’ve heard it 1000 times. We all know your opinion…why waste everyone’s time with yet another thread.

The fact that you’re completely wrong is neither here nor there.

hit the post from 2 yards
shoots straight at the goal keeper
powder puff shoots
scores from an off side position
so in Lanzo-Ad eyes when Benteke dose something similar he is s**te but Mateta does it he is our best CF .
you are not saying a lot about our strikers
I wold prefer Edouard as CF instead of Mateta any day

Not sure how Ayew can be No2 when he hasn't played centre forward in almost 2 years.

For me it's either Edouard upfront or Mateta/Tekkers depending on the opposition etc.

Edouard gets a little lost when we have limited possession but is probably the best finisher. Tekkers on his day is still a great centre forward, however, playing well 1 game in 5 is just not acceptable
