I suppose we should get used to this, as not all academy players are going to make the first team. At least it shows we are producing players other clubs want.
Good luck to him

And this shouldn't be underestimated. It shows youngsters that there is a route through our Academy into professional league football. Players can earn a decent living in the lower leagues and if their club make it into the Championship then further opportunities could arise. So two in this window gone to League 1 clubs. As the Academy develops. hopefully, we'll soon see some going to Championship clubs and even a few into our own first team.

Exactly that.

If we find 1 prem-quality youngster a year, it's good going - the idea that the whole youth team are destined for the top is so silly.

Rob Street has gone on loan to Newport and Dreher has also gone on loan although I am not sure where.

Obviously doesn’t travel well. He is probably closer now to Palace’s training ground than Selhurst.

Always rated him as a player but injuries have plagued his progress. If he is still only playing at this level now then not sure he is going to make it at top level. Could be a late developer but not many of them now.

Jack Roles has left no mention if he has a club so probably not.

Sounds like we are having a clear out.

Yep, the machine is starting to work.

We are obviously lightyears away from the very best academies, but we'll get there.

Seem to be finding places in professional or semi-professional football rather than having to hang up their boots and vanish off the footballing world, which seemed the fate of our youngsters pre Cat 1 status.

While we can hope that the conveyor belt will ultimately turn out 1 or even 2 first team players a year and all0w us to enjoy some U18 and U23 success (in a few seasons, oh impatient ones!), selling/lending those who reach 23 but do not make the first team to teams lower down the ladder and/or overseas is also good business. It pays for the young kids coming up from the bottom.

That’s the reality of the Academy, not everyone is going to make it for various reasons. I would guess the amount that will make it into league football is less 10%
