Ok this might deserve a thread of its own. Probably shouldn’t use certain alleged words in the thread title. Have a read of this [Link] Croydon Council’s planning committee has had an application for a development in Purley rushed on to its agenda for tomorrow, its last meeting of 2019, with a scheme submitted from a company whose “development director” is married to a senior member of the council’s planning staff. (December 2019) And this [Link] The Croydon planning officer who recommended approval for 59, 61 and 63 Higher Drive was Jan Slominski. That’s the same Jan Slominski who left his council job to go to work for architects HTA Design. (These architects do designs for the developer on this development) (yesterday January 2022) Maybe with local papers now online this kind of corruption goes unnoticed or uncared about.

It's all over the place. Corruption. It's easy to get battle-weary, but this stuff needs exposing and dealing with. I used to be in the development business, and it can be as mucky as any arms industry, or other areas that are subject to political lobbying, bribery, illegal activities, and nepotism. The sad thing is, any whistle-blower who exposes 5hlt like this, is likely to never work again. Edited by Forest Hillbilly (19 Jan 2022 3.42pm)

MP Chris Philp has stopped several developments. The latest one he’s trying to stop is opposite the ticket office entrance to kenley station. There’s been several that have progressed without legal planning permission and he’s got involved there.

I originally was against the purley skyscraper but I think purley has had it to the point it needs more well paid young people. Problem is they may not go out in purley like the newcomers to Croydon’s skyscrapers don’t go out in Croydon. You can’t polish a turd is the saying, only these turds haven’t even been polished are still in the same sh1t state. If the monies raised from the purley skyscraper went into Brighton Road and High Street purley including the swimming pool etc then it could help the area. But it won’t. There will be backhanders and any official monies and council tax used to repay the council’s debts from failing in the property and financial markets with the local public’s money.

Last year he had changed his mind on it, maybe he needs another business lunch with the developer to sweeten him up, I posted about it about a year ago.

The Jolly Farmers is still a cracking Friday/Sat night music venue. I wouldn’t just venture in for a pint however.

Hard to stop when the ex-head of council promised to concrete over the South of the Borough.
