Before i start i am not advocating his dismissal,

Pluses, He can attract players that other Managers cant, and he has instant respect from his players

Minuses, He is very raw to the Job, and in my opinion has made a lot of selection and Substitution errors

He has positives and negatives like any manager. For me the positives outweigh the negatives and he’s growing in the job, he learns from his mistakes (Arsenal) and it’s not the same old errors week in week out like Pardew for example.
This season was always going to be tricky but I’d reserve my judgement until ten games into next season barring a disaster which I can’t see happening.
It has been exciting to watch palace on the whole this season and I can’t really understand how any palace fans can have any complaints with the direction the club is going.

He has been in the job 5 minutes -there is so much good news to see in what he has done / remains as trying to do -
He is closer to the action than we are, he sees the players practically every day & will no doubt develop his knowledge about what they can do on the training ground & in competitive games.
The opposition teams are also developing, new managers, new players, tweaking their strengths & style of play -

For me - he is doing well & like most of us going through life , every day is a school day.

If you go to Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea supporters boards after every game you will see peoples opinions on who should have started, who should have come off the bench etc etc - & yet those 3 teams have just about the most experienced managers available.

Big Patrick is doing just fine, really happy with his appointment….

You can look at substitutions in greater detail, but where we have slipped up is poor decisions made by some of the players on the pitch at the time.

He is a terrific manager for us. His first PL job and we are privileged to see the start of what, I am sure will be a long and successful career in this Country.

He has the respect of the team and of other big names in the world of football. People look up to him. You only need to see his chat with Ian Wright pre Millwall and with Gary Neville last night to see the impact he has.

Far too early to start finding fault. He's learning, he'll make mistakes. It's what people do when they're new to something. He's improving all the time.

You can't criticise his substitutions either. At least he makes them. And at least a couple have been inspired match savers.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I can't believe I'm actually going to respond to this with hopefully a logical and well argued response given your tendencies to be selective in your responses but here goes anyway.

I'll pick just one area that you raise : substitutions.

Earlier in the season at Arsenal when leading 2-1 with less than 10 minutes to go Vieira brought on Tomkins for Edouard and we went to a back 5 to try to protect our lead. I think this was a mistake because we lost any attacking intent and ability to relieve pressure. Result - we draw 2-2.

Last night when leading with less than 10 minutes to go Vieira takes off Olise and replaces him with Benteke, even though he had already replaced Edouard with Mateta essentially leaving us with two strikers and one of those playing out of position on the right (Mateta). I think he did this for 2 reasons:

1. Benteke is good at defending set pieces and corners and would hopefully help against the height of the Brighton centre backs if they push forward in attacking situations.

2. He remembered the Arsenal game and the fact he invited pressure by making too defensive a substitution and Benteke would hopefully help to hold the ball up and relieve pressure. (now we can argue how effective that would be but please don't just pick on this point and ignore the rest of this response - I know you love to do that).

In hindsight (which is great but totally useless) he got both decisions wrong. IMHO at Arsenal he should have brought on another midfielder to help deny space in and around the box and last night he should have brought on Clyne and played 5 at the back with Clyne providing extra cover to Ward who had a really bad game.

On another day and with a bit of luck both decisions would have worked and we'd be saying how inspired his substitutions were. But they didn't. At least last night he tried something different to simply throwing on another defender (like at Arsenal) and hoping for the best.

He is doing a good job. He has not had a full pre-season or full summer transfer window. Our play is far more entertaining & there are goals in this team. We have picked up points in games this season which would have been lost last season. There have been few games which we have not been in.
He is also working with players & a squad which are not all his players. Hopefully he will by now have seen the error of his ways in starting games with Luka who, along with Ward and Guita (turned 35 this week) will hopefully be upgraded soon.
Kelly & Reidewald are players who both it seems, surplus to requirements & will hopefully also be upgraded or whose departures will allow the blooding of some of our exciting young talent.
We could well be at the start of something far more positive & hopeful along as he is not poached.

Which ones, in your opinion? Man City is perhaps an obvious one, but which others?
