Let me start this by saying that for some strange reason I actually like him as a player but after watching him last night I am left puzzled at how a professional football player can be so bad at playing football. He can get around the pitch and put in a tackle but lord above he is horrific with the ball at his feet. I’d like to know what others think of him? Edited by EddieMac (16 Dec 2021 2.24pm)

I actually think he's the reason we were so much worst yesterday than the weekend - he's been very influential over the past couple of games, winning a hell of a lot of tackles and interceptions, but he failed to stamp any authority on the game yesterday - it felt like Hughes was playing on his own in the middle for a lot of it. Probably an energy thing, as Kouyate's game is very reliant on getting about the pitch. I think he's our best option in the deeper role for now, but ultimately someone we need to upgrade if we're to progress with this style. He'd be a horrible f*cker to play against - all limbs, and he doesn't mind sticking his boot in. I like him.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Edited by EddieMac (16 Dec 2021 2.24pm) a bit unfair, but clearly yesterday was not a good day for him. He has good energy and is a decent tackler - he needs to keep it simple, win the ball and give it to people who can play a bit more. When he doesn't play, especially away from home, we can get overrun in the midfield. Also, for set pieces his height is important as we are not the biggest side. A very important squad member who has played most of his career at a top level so many people clearly see his attributes

Like all of them he won't play well every week but for me he is a shoe in when Gallagher and Hughes are playing.

He’s not the most skilful, but he leaves it all out on the pitch…. Oh and he can play midfield, right back, centre back and he would most probably play in goal if he was asked!
