Launching on Christmas eve.

Genuinely exciting in terms of learning more about this big thing we live in.

I only became aware of this recently after watching Prof Brian Cox’s outstanding ‘Universe’ a truly staggering scientific explanation on our origins, all based on Hubble’s photographs going back in time billions of years… I’m fascinated to see what James Webb uncovers! Genius stuff!

Indeed, the next few months while it sets up and self tests will be a saga all in of itself. All in all an incremental step forwards.

Thanks for the 'heads-up' stirling. It all looks rather splendid and i'm sure will further our knowledge enormously.
Will it finally convince the lingering doubters that the earth is not flat and elevated into space by a supporting structure of giant turtles. ?
Such is the construct of the universe, I bet it discovers far more questions than answers

A real testament to human development, in spite of the political mess we've made of our own planet.

Personally I'm hoping that it proves 'turtles all the way down' theory or perhaps spiders considering it's the Webb telescope.

Just as an update the launch went well as did the first initial deployments. We are currently at the vital stage of sunshield deployment, which is a multi-faceted stage of over a hundred motors and many more moving parts. We should hear about how it went someone time on the 5th.

Here is a video on all the stages that the Webb must go through if it's going to be a full success.

I was fascinated reading about this launch on Christmas day. The amount of work and thought that has gone into this launch is mind boggling. Thanks for the link I'd definitely like to keep myself updated on how the mission is going. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and then see what it can tell us about the universe.
