I can see why a lot of Watford fans were gutted he went.
Has an engine and style the same as Jimmy mac.
Doesn't stick on a player and finds 3 yards to accept a pass.
A great addition to the team and confident he can fill macs shoes.
Good game will, well done.

I have always rated Hughes. He was a star at Derby and seemed to lose his way. maybe we will give him the chance to show what a talent he is.

Some lovely touches and great vision. Seemed to have time on the ball and rarely misplaced a pass. He can also play further forward although unsure this will happen as Gallagher tends to do this now and he seems the perfect Jimmy Mac replacement.

I will be amazed if he does not start again on Wednesday and he will start to make it very hard for Jimmy when he is fully fit to get back in the side.

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

Based on today's appearance, he seems to be halfway between Gallagher and Macca: less pesky but more skilled than Macca, not quite as athletic and attack-minded as CG. But if he stays fit and gains experience, he should be useful next season assuming we lose Gallagher. It was good to see his confidence and skill in a lively match.

He seemed to effortlessly slot into the team. Plays with a great composure. Never seems rushed. Kept us balanced right up until his sub. Works well with the all arms and legs Kouyate who had a good show probably due to Hughes. Great find. A seriously good addition to our squad especially if Gallagher stays.
Back to our old new ways today.

I was so pleased to see him in the starting line-up. His 10 Minutes at Leeds pointed to what he might do if given a chance and today he didn't disappoint. Glad for him. Hope he's fit enough to start again on Wednesday. He enabled Gallagher to play further forward where he is most dangerous.

A natural CM with 360 vision/ability. Very impressed with him today and I'm struggling to see why Schlupp was selected over him in the last couple of games. Must surely only have been fitness.

Having Hughes or JMac in that position releases CG to get forward and score/set-up goals and Kouyate to do what he's good at and break up play, and allows us to play much further up the pitch as playing out from the back, Hughes was always available in space to take the pass from our defenders.

Based on that performance, there's no huge panic to run out and buy another CM in January.

(Also thought Tomkins was very solid and more comfortable with the passing game, so hopefully we won't need another CB either).

Will showed that he is a real footballer and far better than Schlupp (who has his moments but lacks a football brain). Hope this was the first start of many for the ex-Watford midfielder.

Very impressed, he just kept it nice and simple and never gave the ball away plus he takes a great corner.

He had a great game and should be an automatic starter.
Given how he played it allowed Kouyate to play his normal game and he too was excellent.
JMac and Hughes may not play together I suspect - too similar

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't start on Wednesday, although maybe not quite up to playing a full 90 minutes just yet.

Really liked what I saw from him yesterday. Neat and tidy, kept the ball even in tight situations and not afraid to mix it when required.

A good debut.

Not sure about having an engine, was knackered on 60 minutes, maybe not enough game time.
Good full debut.
