In recent times it feels like Zaha has lost a little bit of the thing that made him special. Not sure if its pace or bravery or maybe just his desire to be efficient (vs entertain). Either way he's not the player that used to beat defenders for fun. More often than not he's kept quiet by pretty average defences. (The worst for me was against Brighton, the old Zaha would have torn Dan Burn to shreds). Then when you consider (ignore the last couple of games) the new style of play, we don't really need a guy who can do it by himself. So I'm not sure Parish would be holding out for £70 odd million now, but all things aside what is he worth now? If he still wants to go, what would you accept? The context for starting this was seeing Demarai Gray bang one in the other night. Gray, Andros, Lookman all were signed for next to nothing and I'm not sure Zaha is any better. Cornet at Burnley wasn't expensive either and looks decent.

i would say about !5 million, 18 months left, but nobody will match his wages in Europe
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

I think if he doesn't improve over the next few months the question might start to be asked not how much is he worth to another club but how much is he worth to us and is he earning his high wage? Even when we were playing well prior to this poor run, in many games he was far from the best player in the team. Don't get me wrong, he's still a handful on his day and I'd rather we kept him, but he is a long way from peak Zaha at the moment and there have been signs on the side lines that he is perhaps not seen to be pulling his weight at times. The other problem he has is that when he isn't producing the goods it makes his pantomime theatrics all the more embarrassing. I always thought he and Townsend had a bit of friendly rivalry, so maybe that might spark some life into him. Right now we could really do with some of his old magic.

There was talk last season of Wilf being worth to Palace the same amount as remaining in the PL. Not any more. We can remain in the PL without Wilf, but I am no certain anyone thought that at the start of the season. During that^ season I thought that I would be gutted if Wilf left, but now he could run down his contract and I wouldn't mind so much. If NUFC came knocking in January I'd snap their hand off (or use a sword so they're more comfortable) for anywhere upwards of 20m. Wages are a problem, but that would be the only reason for him to go anywhere, right?
So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet. |

I suspect that he would still be worth £25 to £30 million. FWIW, Transfermarkt have him down at £40.5 million

[He wouldn't start for a top six side and nobody below that level, bar Newcastle would have the sort of money Palace would be interested in. Leicester? What will happen when his contract is up for renewal cos let’s be honest , other than Newcastle no one will want his wages. 50% of his £130k/week would be too rich in the current climate. Train Wilf big time on speed over 5 metres. There are legs in him yet. O

Got to admit I haven't been impressed and with the new blood, next summer he can be replaced or phased out. Weird scenario right now. Sure, he deserves out support, which he gets... but he isn't deserving of his wage right now.. that's obvious.

When Zaha put in his transfer request I feel that Parish covered all angles by reasoning that without him (at that time) we never won, and it would be a smart move to slap a high price tag on him to deter suitors, but if a high bid came in then we could let him go with enough in the bank to get a replacement (or two).

Even though I'm sure Parish would sell for £20/30mil, I really cant see there being many options for him. The top 6 wont take him, as they already have better. He's likely on too high a wage for the next couple of teams. European teams wont pay his wages. So he either runs his contract down and hopes (I guess like Andros) that he'll get a better offer. Or he signs a new contract and commits for life. I never thought I'd ever say this, but I really hope Newcastle come in with something silly in Jan. Now might be our last chance to get some decent'ish money for him.

Taking the United share in his sell on into account if we netted £18m we’d be doing well.
