Surely this had to be some very poor and lazy reporting. Has there been any other indication as to whether there is any truth to this rumor. I think that if it were true he could do a great job for us on the right but personally cannot see this being true. Similar poor reporting to the Anthony Martial rumor.

I have seen a couple of interviews that Wilf has given where he clearly thinks a lot of Pepe (I think they are both Ivory Coast) & he would be the kind of player that we would like but didnt Arsenal pay 70 odd Million for him just couple years ago ? (no idea of his wages) even if he was offered to us cut price it would still be 50 million ? wouldnt it ?

Quite honestly if we had that kind of money I would hope Dougie is camped at Chelsea HQ trying to buy CG.

Have I missed something here. How do you know his house is up for sale. Is there a board outside?

On balance, I suspect I'm marginally more likely to buy Wilf's house off Purple Bricks than Pepe is to come to balance BUT if this did turn out to be true, it would be an absolutely sensational signing.

BTW someone said they'd rather spend the money on Gallagher. I don't think that comes into the equation at this point. Gallagher has been here for five or six months now. He's done brilliantly and he's clearly happy. He knows the situation at Chelsea. He will know what future role Tuchel has in mind for him at this point. If Gallagher was available, was interested in coming here permanently, and if Chelsea were open to selling him to us, I'm 100% certain the wheels of a deal would be moving by now. The fact they're not and you hear more about the mooted Anguissa transfer probably tells you all you need to know about the chances of Gallagher signing up (unfortunately). Of course, things could change between now and the end of the season but it's quite clear that until or unless they do change, "sign Conor" is a pointless conversation topic. Also, ironically, a signing like Pepe (unlikely as it is) would probably HELP, not hinder us, from getting Gallagher in the long term because incoming players like to join clubs that have ambition. Bringing in Pepe would be a statement of intent that we were serious about competing in the top half of the table and that's the sort of move that would attract more players like Gallagher.
