As there have already been a few posts in the Wolves match thread I thought the forthcoming Burnley game deserved its own build up, separate to the ‘Predictions’ thread. I couldn’t get to the Wolves game yesterday, as unfortunately I had to work, this made getting to the Burnley Away game all the more important. It is an evolving theme these days regarding how much people are looking forward to going to the games and watching us play…not a feeling we have experienced much in the least few years. My son and I are driving up and making a weekend of it, staying overnigh nearby after the game. Absolutely cannot wait as I love the atmosphere and noise at our away games, as does my son. Hoping for a great turnout and another point or three. Any recommendations of places to eat out or visit during our stay would be most welcome. COYP!

Just reposting it from the Wolves thread -
I guess we wouldnt get back until around 23.00 ? so its going to be a long day - she isn't going to be happy, lol I had a quick look at train tickets seems they are about £70.00 from Euston to Burnley. If anyone has any pointers on this it would be good to know. Originally posted by NE14T

Just looking at this again - (as below) a) It seems that the coach will get back around midnight ( maybe later) based on google research , not specific info from the club) b) Trains - off peak ticket - Caterham to Euston to Manchester road Burnley station & back = £106.00 Anyone else got any suggestions ? (or better info) Originally posted by Dubai Eagle

I noticed on tv that during their last home game against Brentford there were a lot of empty seats in the home seating areas. It will be a huge lift to our team to see and hear a packed, loud away section. As for the travel options, it is a bit of a treck and one of those sorts of places that you only really visit for football…a bit like Grimsby! I’m sure others will have some more travel options / suggestions.

COYP! before the game go to the cricket club (right behind the away end). 3 floors all with bars and they will do pie and chips etc. Have sky sports etc and will be packed with Palace fans. Get there early as it gets packed. Local pubs are best avoided IMHO.

If you go on Google street view it seems that the cricket club and football club are in different continents.! On closer examination it is only The Turkish that is!! Edited by stuckinbristol (08 Nov 2021 10.21am)

Went about 2/3 years ago (3-1 win) and enjoyed it. Burnley itself is a bit grim but there are enough decent boozers in the town, just don't wear colours and you'll be fine. Attached to the back of the away end and only accessible once through the turnstile was a big marquee selling beer, I believe it was the cricket club. We stayed in Manchester and got a direct train from there which took about 20/25 mins from memory.

I think I need to do a bit of research to make sure I end up in the right place…unless this marquee has 3 floors?!

Burnley has a Travelodge and a Premier Inn and the Regent Guest House is minutes away. The Burnley Cricket Club backs onto the away end and its website at [Link] says: CLOSEST OF THE PUBS NEAR THE TURF MOOR AWAY END Don't be put off by the Bar Steward Blakey's dress sense and overly friendly manner. He's okay, really. REAL ALES, DIFFERENT LAGERS AND DRINKS OFFERS After every senior cricket game and Burnley FC match, it's happy hour all night long, with cut price drinks until we close. And before football games, you can get deals on our special 'bombs.'
