....in history.

Diego Maradona's Argentina were brilliant with him. And fell apart when he got disqualified on a drugs test.

Messi, the Barcelona of recent years seemed filled with old men and yesterday's heroes. With predictable consequences.

Andy Johnson & ourselves ? maybe. Although many of those Eagles did shine after the Johnson era was over.

Roy Keane at Glasgow Celtic. For medical reasons he didn't last too long. But he was so much out of their league.

what others ?

Kayla did Anfield & Old Trafford

Atillio Lombardo - Crystal Palace

The other players at that time weren't on the same page in fact weren't even reading the same book

Some consolation for the advancing years anyway.

it is noteworthy that 'brilliant players' are normally attacking players. There seems to be far less glory in being a wonderful defender.

Any exceptions ?

Garrincha, said to be one of only 2 people to single handedly win the World Cup the other being Maradona.

Apparently in 1962 he was unplayable.
