3D Construction Toy

Has anyone managed to complete this "toy"?! My patience has run out as the pieces are insufficient to create a stable base and platform for the stands, which hence keep collapsing when you try to build on thin air! Tried to stuff some polystyrene foam underneath as support but no good.
