A rather odd story, granted from the Mail. Apparently Zaha asked to be left out of the latest squad because he gets homesick on the international breaks. 'He asked not to come because he becomes home sick at each break,' said Beaumelle after announcing his squad without Zaha in it. 'He wants to reflect on the rest of his international career.' Hopefully this ends up him not getting picked/deciding not to go to the Africa Cup of Nations

If true, I imagine this story is the end of his Ivory Coast career.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Probably his agent trying to make him more attractive to buyers e.g. he wont disappear in January.

I read on Twitter that what he actually said was he comes home sick from every international trip. Sounds more likely a reason than him being homesick.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

Hopefully this ends up him not getting picked/deciding not to go to the Africa Cup of Nations I think it has been worded badly by certain news outlets. I'm pretty sure he said he gets sick every time he comes home from international duty. Not homesick.

Totally spit balling, but wouldn't be surprised if he's just mindful of getting on in years, the rigour of the PL and actually does he want the hassle of flying half way around the world to play alongside a load of dross, trying to get a crucial win against Malawi.... all of which in facilities and infrastructure worse than Palace's academy (I'm guessing). Playing for your country is all very nice I'm sure, but if football paid my bills and had to set me up for life, I don't think I'd bother.
