It"s the same main stand, where there are about 100 seats available on the right hand side alone every game this season, I even went to buy my new season ticket in person, with cash, and took an extra 50 quid just in case of inflation, but more than double was taking the pizz, so I haven"t been back since, just saying Steve!

I think the damage done by covid and the last few years of turgid football at home is now showing in the crowds, plus as you say the hassle with the new ticketing system. I’m surprised the crowds are as good as they are to be honest. The games are much more enjoyable now though and it’s looking promising under Vieira, so it’s their loss Edited by monkey (10 Oct 2021 11.55am)

Customers are easy to lose and hard to gain. Dreadful performances at home leading up to and during lockdown. Others just finding new things to do with their Saturday. Going to football matches is habitual for most, and expensive. Lockdown broke that habit. A few more positive performances and fans will want to come back and see the new players.

Obviously difficult for any international fans too. Depending on whatever restrictions are in place. There may be few restrictions or none in the UK, but plenty of places have test requirements etc. Currently, would cost me an extra hundred quid for tests per person. Not worth the hassle.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I normally buy membership for me and my son. It really is overcomplicated to buy tickets online now. Trying to link accounts and only 1 ticket per person. I gave up after trying to buy tickets earlier in the season.. Maybe a small hit from this as well.

Going off topic for a moment, this business of getting out of the habit is an interesting phenomenon, and it seems to me that it's affecting pub going as well. I used to visit a pub about three times a week, now it's more like once a fortnight. And when I do go, the place is quieter than before the lockdowns. But getting back to Palace, I haven't been tempted to stop going. I don't live far away, and as an OAP my season ticket in the Whitehorse costs me slightly over £17 a game, but I must say I would baulk at £50, as someone mentioned. As for the virus, rightly or wrongly I don't worry about it, especially now I've had my third jab.
