Saturday saw a new low by the match referee at Anfield, how can referees regain fairness in football and maybe a modicum of respect for their job. Quite rightly P.V. marched out and made his point to the officials.

Well, if you think you can do better . . . .

The bigger clubs obviously have the more accomplished players so will also create more and better opportunities, clubs in our position ultimately rely on the few moments they manage to wiggle free and because of these new rules coming out it will only make the problem much worse, we were struggling before the change ..how many times has Ayew got to be fouled before any official takes notice let alone Zaha, also for me the biggest problem has always been the better players having the better ability to fool the refs, it is pure cheating and everyone just overlooks it ...taking one for the team they say.

Why was the foul on Benteke not even mentioned? had we had the penalty and scored they would have played somewhat differently.

So you think the ref did a good job? I may well have done a better job when age and health permitted.

Owen Hargreaves in his role as TV pundit said that he doesn’t know what the rules are when talking about the marked leniency of referees this season.

I do, give everything to and nothing against the big clubs, unless already winning easily, so they can say they do get decisions against them.
With regard to Brighton/ Leicester game, how awful was that? Obviously Leicester are a bit of a pain forever trying to get into CL places, so give decisions against them, especially against teams who will not challenge at top.
I am already getting fed up with the decisions this season ( not only against Palace) which are spoiling my enjoyment. I have already stopped watching MOTD, as their coverage is even more biased than usual

I think this new rule says to allow 'soft contact' or whatever it is has made it really hard for the refs.

On some occasions, like Saturday, it went completely the other way. Saying that, at times the ref did appear to have a "one rule for them, and another for us" attitude. not many excuses for that behaviour.

Feel bad castigating refs - They do an incredibly hard job in an intensely pressurized environment, but they don't help themselves sometimes.

There is absolutely no excuse for Milner, not at least getting a yellow, could/should have been 2. Not highlighted at all, made out to be a bloody hero

It looks to me as ,the referees are now more and more becoming involved in the headlong rush to provide entertainment , at the cost of the original rules of the game. The handball question has come close to a joke. Those of us that have ever played the game have always known about the need for gamesmanship, the dark arts. But what we see now is far to often just blatant bodily assaults completely obvious to the naked eye. Which on occasion get ignored , at other times a mild rebuke, these are the fouls that if not punished with the threat of leaving the field totally determine the outcome of most games.
At this moment in time the excuse is ,it lets the game flow, for entertainment value. IMO opinion it could so easily be another tool for refs to influence the direction of play. It becomes an excuse for bad decision s, and is another nail in the progress of all really good ball playing players.
