I went to a game in Berlin a couple of years ago and it was sensationally brilliant having a pint while watching the game. It's also a superb side to international rugby. Given concerns about Covid, would it not be better to allow this practice in English stadia? If desperate, put some nets up to stop fans lobbing plastic beer glasses onto the pitch. I really don't wanna stand or sit in a confined space with people breathing all over me anyway. Let alone at the moment.

You'll then have to deal with people going to and from their seat all game to get more beers. It's not that bad if it's standing, but generally, it will start pissing people off. The other main issue would be policing. They like people to stay in roughly the same place, rather than have them move around all the time. Can't see it happening for at least 10 more years.

Reminded me of a holiday in the canaries, standing on balcony at about 7pm, a whole load of gorgeous totty, about 20 in total, walked past the hotel, all white jeans and nice tops, sandals, dresses, all about 19 or 20. I was studying them and wondered where they were off to, and guessed right, in to "pacha" , the bar frequented by Dutch and Germans. At the same time, a screaming mass of overweight rabble came up the road, all guts hanging out, shorts and trainers, and wearing lots of t shirts, with bj jane and 69 sarah on, singing something like- "we"re the girls and we are here, blowing clocks and drinking beer!" Did make me wonder how did it come to this?

Doesn't seem to piss people off at the rugby. It's just weird to be treated this way. Especially when letting us drink at our seats would dramatically reduce covid spread risk.

Rugby fans don"t want to punch the opposing fans, shout racist stuff at players, invade the pitch if they see a way, or indeed chuck plastic cups on the pitch, like I said, we can blame what went before for us not being trusted.

Can't ever see it happening - football generates too much emotional intensity in the crowd - if beer were on the terraces I'd imagine a scene ala world cup / euros box park every time a goal went in - reckon would really piss people off

Back in the day, a holiday in Spain would invariably end up with the british youth fighting with the locals, not sure if it is the same now, but doubt it.

Imagine you were sitting in the holmesdale, perhaps with your kids, we score and a pint of lager goes over your head, it would be "going off" all over the ground !

Unfortunately this, football is yobby enough as it is. Whilst most fans are decent the wronguns would ruin it for all.
