Hi Guys
Don't know what's going on - just reading that there is major disruption on all trains going through East Croydon Station - seems wise to try to plan alternative routes / journeys

Yeah, we are on the train from Crawley, just been announced its not going to Croydon as there has been a fatality in Croydon.
We've been told our train is stopping at Gatwick and we have to await further instructions..

apologies if incorrect, but info i had was a body found at the station in suspicious circumstances?

Description
A person has been hit by a train between Purley / Oxted and East Croydon. As all lines are currently disrupted, trains across the whole Southern / Thameslink network will be cancelled or delayed.

Major disruption is expected until 15:00.

Customer Advice

Trains are now able to operate between East Croydon and Purley, and East Croydon and Oxted. However, severe disruption is still expected to continue for the next couple of hours, whilst teams work to get services back to the booked timetable.

You are STRONGLY advised to travel later today.

If you do travel your journey time will be extended by up to 60 minutes and will include an alternative route.

This is impacting ALL Thameslink and Southern services which operate through East Croydon station.

Ticket Acceptance

Your ticket will be accepted on the following services at no additional cost:

Metro Area

London Buses between Redhill, Purley, East Croydon and Central London
London Underground via any reasonable route
Trams between East Croydon and Mitcham Junction

Mainline and Coastways to London

Southern between Horsham and London Victoria via Dorking
Great Western Railway between Gatwick Airport, Redhill and Dorking Deepdene
Southeastern between Hastings and London Bridge
South Western Railway between Portsmouth and London Waterloo and between Dorking and London Waterloo
MetroBus between Horsham, Three Bridges, Horley, Salfords, Earlswood, Redhill and Epsom
Southern and Thameslink are accepting each others tickets where services are running.

East Grinstead and Uckfield lines:

Southeastern between Tunbridge Wells and London Bridge
Brighton & Hove buses between Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells
MetroBus between East Grinstead and Three Bridges (please note train services from Three Bridges, will also be heavily disrupted)

London to Cambridge / Peterborough

Great Northern services via any reasonable route
Greater Anglia between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street
LNER between London Kings Cross, Stevenage and Peterborough

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Staff were advised of an incident between East Croydon and Purley, which required urgent investigation by the emergency services. A short while into the investigation, it was confirmed a person had been hit by a train. The emergency services, along with teams and Network Rail have dealt with the incident and confirmed that train services can operate again between these locations.

However, severe disruption should still be expected whilst teams work hard to get services back to the booked timetable.
