this is going to be an opinion splitter for sure! My take on it - He isnt to my taste so I wouldnt buy a ticket for it, but his act isnt breaking any laws so I'm sure his management will find another venue. Maybe its a journalist friend doing him a favour to publicise his tour... no such thing as bad PR!
4 playoff finals, Claridge, Hopkin, Shipperley, Phillips.... Life's never dull! |

I like one of his jokes: "My parents hated me. When I was a kid they used to give me Alphabet Soup. One day I looked in the bowl, it said 'F-U-C-K O-F-F'."

I would imagine a career in stand up comedy is harder now than its ever been - trying to keep material fresh enough to be relevant & avoiding topics likely to be deemed offensive.

I watched a bit of him on Youtube a few years back. I wasn't offended by his act but just didn't find him funny and his jokes lacked any wit.

I know he was popular with some, but not for me. An edge to humour is OK by me, but Chubby was too in your face for my taste. Billy Connolly in his prime or Al Murray are more my cup o'tea. Each to his own as they say.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Was behind him in an airport queue once in Spain (many years ago) and he thought he was the muts nuts because a load of northerners had recognised him and were chanting his name. This was in his pomp, but he couldn't have been doing that well because he was on the same flight as me.
