I blame ex hibitionist. His Bond Villain thread set me thinking about some of the great opening sequences in Bond films. The opening of Goldeneye was awesome when Bond leaps from a dam supposedly in the Soviet Union. Actually in Switzerland. The one that I remember raising the the biggest cheer in the cinema was Bond escaping the villains on skis and leaping off a mountain then opening his Union Flag parachute in The Spy Who Loved Me.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

sorry - "shocking, pos***ively shocking" - door slams, black screen, orchestra blasts out first few bars of Goldfinger followed by Shirley Bassey, nothing touches that

Yep, agree with the guys, 'The Spy Who Loved Me', is hard to argue against. In some ways far better days.

But you're right, it should have been Moore's last one, but it made so much money that he limped on for loads more....or should I say Moore. It's a repeating aspect of Bond movies.

It's why Idris Elbe shouldn't be the next Bond, too old (50). It's a pity his time was when Daniel got the job I thought Idris would have been a really good nasty vicious Bond.

From a cinematic point of view, the best opening has to be Spectre. The opening sequence appears to be one continuous shot through the Day of the Dead crowd and only breaks to another view when Bond enters the lift. Then the action starts…!
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |
