Have we forgotten about Olise and Eze??

Whilst i do not think the performance against Brentford was too bad, it is obvious we needed more creativity. But surely that is what Olise has been brought in for. He can play more centrally than Eze, maybe in a free role front of two midfielders either McArthur/Gallagher or if he signs Hughes/Gallagher. Then we may have to tweak the formation to a 4-2-4, in which case when Eze comes back he could play with Olise, but maybe wider out left in a scary 3 attackers behind the main striker (hopefully we will sign an upgrade on Benteke!!!) - then we have players who can not only thread killer balls, but can commit players with dribbling runs. Hughes is a necessary signing because he is an upgrade on both Jairo and Luka in a defensive midfielder role which will allow Gallagher to bomb forward as he does.

I really do feel we are judging Vieira too early especially as we are not past the window yet. lets wait and see once we have a few more signings and players back from injury. As i said the performance was still ok on Saturday, certainly the commitment and pressing was a lot better than under Hodgson, we looked to try to play on the front foot.

No

But Olise has never played in the prem, and Eze is likely to miss half the season

Olise and Eze are not Magic pills That will fix all our problems.

Interested where you think we can shoehorn all these players in to one starting line up?

Suppose that could work.....but that defence must be pretty solid.

Talking of Olise, what's the latest on his injury. Is he doing any training of any sort at the moment?

Originally I seem to remember something being said about him being back after the International break but that doesn't look on the cards, although the Premier League injury site still has him potentially returning on 11/9.

After the ongoing Ferguson saga I will start getting worried if Olise doesn't appear soonish.

Where Olise, is concerned, if he is not back in full training it will be weeks yet. The biggest worry with him would be if this shoulder doesn’t respond naturally, it will be surgery, and the weeks could be months.
A bleak outlook, but if he isn’t in the mix soon it can only mean the injury is a really troublesome one.

I certainly haven't forgotten Eze. Can't wait to see him back. I may have dreamt it, but I seem to recall seeing that he was ahead of schedule in his recovery.

Olise is more of an unknown, but I too am expecting to see something of him towards the end of September, based on heresay of course.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I haven't forgotten them but at the same time, I'm not thinking about them much too they're not going to be a benefit to the team for a while yet. Hopefully Olise sooner than later.

I also think that the majority of level-headed fans aren't losing their sh1t over 2points from 3 games, given the huge rebuild and glimpses of positive football we've seen so far.

Olise and Eze will be like new signings coming into the team (well, I know Olise is a new signing) which will help our momentum through the season. Newly promoted teams often find their enthusiasm and for hard to maintain over a season. We'll have these injections of talent which will increase our attacking option and is something to look forward. We should get a better idea of what PV can do once we have a fully fit and assembles squad - I include 1-2 more signings in that too.

is

Have we forgotten about Olise and Eze??
No, and it will be very interesting to see what PV's preferred starting line-up will be when everyone is fit and firing.

Olise is a puzzle

His most natural position is where Eze is most effective as a CAM and it may be that we see him there while Eze recuperates. After that who knows?

Loads of line ups on here have him earmarked as a RW. That is where we have a gap but not sure that it really fits beyond the fact that he is versatile. He is very left-footed and putting him wide right is not going to give us much natural width and if we persist with Tekkers he will want natural width.

Once Olise and Eze get back to.match fitness, it may well be Wilf under threat unless he starts pulling his finger out.

Right so a player with 0 prem league games is going to get in ahead of a player with 248 games and record goal scorer (47 goals). Don’t think that’ll be happening if I’m honest.

History don't count for much. He's playing like a donkey at the moment. If he doesn't improve, I absolutely expect Olise/Eze to challenge him for a spot.
