I will be interesting to see how some players respond to the contact rules now. Ayew has grown to use the rules last season to gain advantage and I think he will suffer this year, I believe he did on Saturday. Also Schlupp looked out of his depth and as a midfielder who is considered a senior player didn't lead. Players first touch now will be paramount and this is an area that we struggle in. I know the difference in class etc with say City players but compare Sterlings first touch with some of our playersor some of Chelseas players. With a good, soft first touch it will give much needed time on the ball. Players will be found out in this department.

I welcome the changes in which PL games will be refereed.

Me too. The first games of the season have been a revelation of fast, flowing football with minimum disruption of VAR.

Crowds have helped as well.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Great to enjoy the game without VAR all the time, but how Brentford's goal against Arsenal was allowed is beyond me. Their player grabbed keeper Leno with both arms and kept him down before the Bees got their second.
Where was VAR on that occasion?
