My lady friend spotted this article in the Guardian. I have mentioned before that there are 5 blue zones in the world where people live the longest and happiest lives. My yoga group planned to go to each one until COVID mucked things up. Ikaria (Greek island) Done Perdasdefogu is in the mountains and the village is spread across it walking up the village was like climber Everest no wonder the locals are so fit. We were stopped by an elderly gentleman who proudly explained how long people live due to diet Sardinian wine and family. actually he wouldn't shut up even through he spoke no English and one of us had only basic Italian. They have painted murals on the sides of houses of those that get to 100. Anyway Sardinia is a beautiful place well worth a visit.

We used to go to Alghero every Spring and loved it there but Ryanair shifted the flights from Luton to Southend and that's too far for me to travel as nowadays if I can't fly from Birmingham or East Midlands then I won't go

The sard language is the closest living language to old Latin. Very interesting to spent a month in the mountain villages learning from the elderly locals. Down the coast the young all speak English or Italian.... So nothing special there.

Have only ever learn good things about the place. Will put it on a list of possibles now that the covid situation appears to be changing enough to consider such options..

Yup we had a fantastic holiday and the food was wonderful. Sounds nice. Never had a problem with Ryanair either, in fact had a great flight last time, all comfy armchair type seats, on a different note, I see they are pulling out of Southend.

They fly quite a lot from Birmingham and East Midlands, just not to Sardinia. If that were to change I'd book a holiday there again like a shot
