May or may not be the right place but - I use Holmesdale on an iPad with a VPN. Pretty much every time I open it up I get a massive advertising banner that supports Malta occupying most of the page. I cannot get rid of this and it’s forcing me to visit the BBS as it’s frustrating (but also s***. If anything it’s put me off visiting Malta . ) Any ideas how to get shot of this, as it’s bloody annoying, or do you reckon it’s my setup? Any help gratefully appreciated. Just a quickie Helmet46. Chrome is fast, but uses a bunch of memory. Microsoft Edge is just as fast, but is less resource hungry and has more built in security. BTW, I'm guessing your tag is a reference to Rossi. I read this morning that he's planning to retire at the end of this year. He's 42. What a great racer. The GOAT?
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Edited by Helmet46 (06 Aug 2021 9.40am) I have had the same last few days, the Malta advert. Bit of a technophobe so will wait until a young un appears

Both are built on the Chromium platform, but, like a lot of this nerdy stuff I guess it comes down to personal preference. I just happen to prefer the fact that Edge takes less resource to run and I happen to believe, maybe misguidedly, that it is more secure. If you search for Google Chrome Vs Microsoft Edge there are plenty of results. Here's one:

If you go the Home page > contact us > Webmaster, giving full details of the problem, including the device and platform you are using, he'll look into the problem for you, as he has done when this has happened previously with rogue ads.

Here's one: I'm no techie but I've been using Edge since it was revamped on the Chrome platform and I've been more than happy with it. I have no problems with adverts but perhaps that's because I use AdBlock, Ghostery and Privacy Badger which manage to kill every ad and tracker between them
