Man Utd rated Sotona very highly and offered him a contract. They really saw him as one for the future but Sotona wanted a greater chance of breaking into the first team (At United he was just breaking into the U23's from the U18's whilst still only 17) He declined staying at Utd and went to Nice where he hoped to impress in their Reserves and thus start to get close to first team football. However (as I understand it) Reserve football was one of the first to be stopped due to Covid and may not have resumed yet, robbing Sotona a chance to prove himself. He has only been able to show what he can do in training and I understand he is training with the Nice first squad. Potentially he could be a great signing.

@wheddsta claims that he has turned us down as we wouldn't guarantee him first team football and he has options elsewhere that will guarantee him what he wants but perhaps not in the Premier League.
