Italy showed against Spain that they can be a fast and dangerous counter-attacking force. That said they managed just one goal. England's slow and safe build up didn't work that well against Denmark. Extra time showed them with a much more attacking and effective style. I worry that the usual tactics will be frustrating for England as Italy, as ever, know how to defend. I'm sure England have the forwards to do damage but can they get the ball quick enough? How should GS play it?
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Need to match the Italian's game management and wind them up. Not let them do it to us. Expose their slow central defence is one way to get to them, although their defenders are brilliant.

After Denmark they will aggressively press Pickford forcing him into more distribution errors and target the emotionally brittle Maguire without mercy. I wouldn't be surprised if he was sent off. Teams rarely prepare for the latter. Gazza and Rooney were both tempestuous. Neither were controlled on the pitch and both were allowed to have it out with other players and the ref. You need something like the British Lions "99" call where the players rush in to protect him and drag him away from confrontation (albeit within the rules of the game, otherwise half the team will be sent off if we actually copy what the Lions did in South Africa!).

We should play pace up top to upset Chilini and Bounochi. Sancho and Sterlin will scare the sh*t out of them,i thought Spain exposed Italy's defence a few times thee other day. Italy say they'd rather of played Denmark in the final.

What tactics ? England should parade a holy statue through the stadium before the match, Mediterranean style. Cos a miracle will be needed to beat chellini and the rigazzos

Italy say they'd rather of played Denmark in the final. Apparently the media in Italy call Sterling "The Unstoppable One". Of course they would rather have played Denmark. We are the better team and at home. But this Italian team can beat both. If they score first, they will wear us down utilizing the energy from that extra prep day and haul themselves over the finish line. But if we score first...

It's got to be speed of attack. Mount or Grealish releasing Sterling who attracts opposition to the ball which creates space for others to fill.

I'd be playing Foden instead of Mount in the formation we played vs Denmark. get him central and pulling some strings, and intricate passing, releasing Kane and Sterling behind italys CBs Either Saka or Sancho on the right - Saka for me, as I think Sancho doesn't bring enough to the table. GS appears To like to bring Grealish on as a Sub to change things up, so leave that alone. one things for sure, don't go behind! they will bring out the delay tactics and will be difficult to come back from.

I can see us pushing and probing their defence with short overhead passes to our front players. And I think it will work. 3-0 to England.

If we score more than Italy we should be OK.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
