Have just been told that Victor Nelsson to Crystal Palace is close to a done deal. €12 million + add ons. His agent has travelled to London from Copenhagen today. Medical soon. #CPFC #FCK #Nelsson From Twitter. No idea if it's true or not.

Certainly a position we need strengthening and he looks like a solid prospect. From the clips it looks like he loves to defend (always good for a CB), strong in the tackle and quite a leader... appears to be wearing the captain's armband more often than not.

He looks quicker than our current centre-backs which would be a big positive as it would allow us to play a higher line, plus he is described as a ball-playing defender which if we are to progress towards a more possession-based approach will also be important. When you think Sakho was costing us around £6 million a year just in wages then Euro12 million seems a good deal for a young, full international. I'm not going to pretend I know much about him, but if he is as good as he sounds on paper then this would represent another solid signing and we're still less than two weeks into July!
