as Nissan announces major investment in Sunderland, weren't they supposed to pack up and leave after Brexit?

It's funny that you still call it Project Fear... the farmers and fishermen probably wouldn't find it funny, mind.

We are paying the price a state bailout of over 500 millions to keep Nissan in the UK. If we had stayed in, this would not have been necessary, and we would have access to the 750 billion EU recovery fund. .

Funny how no one 'raving' about this news posted any links to the actual story. I wonder why not?: "The market for electric cars is expanding rapidly. But earlier this month, influential green group Transport and Environment (T&E) said the UK risked being left behind in the race to build electric cars. The Brussels-based campaign group said that as recently as 2018, the UK produced roughly half of all electric cars built in Europe. But it claimed a lack of investment by UK manufacturers meant that by the end of the decade that figure could fall to just 4%. T&E also said Nissan's expansion plans for Sunderland - which would reportedly see the plant having a capacity of 6.5 Gigawatt hours (GWh) - amounted to "a tiny fraction of the 474GWh of production at 17 sites across Europe for which funding has already been secured"." The UK could have been part of the EU's huge investment in this industry but instead, it's chosen to have a tiny part of it, around 1.5%. Project fear? - nah, project reality right now. Say hello to Mr China. Thanks for making an amusing contribution to an otherwise rather objective topic. I am not going to give you a definition of raving as if I had to correct your incorrect use of vocabulary every time you erred I would be doing little else. You will find this link helpful for future posts. [Link] It's no surprise that the FBPE brigade who didn't care about fishing pre Brexit and loved quoting how small a percentage of GDP it was, and how nationalistic/jingoistic it was to make it a Brexit issue, are now u-turned into outrage over a problem which is entirely of the EU's making. Hey ho, I say good for Sunderland to have investment in fact rather than some spurious windfall from the EU in theory. I am happy for the people of Sunderland and the dog in the manger attitude of the remainers to the news is a good illustration of why the good people of the North East voted to leave. Tomorrow's news will bring the Batley and Spen result, let's see how that goes. Edited by HKOwen (01 Jul 2021 1.27pm) Edited by HKOwen (01 Jul 2021 1.31pm)

You keep on avoiding the real impact of this on the UK, it becomes irrelevant in the European industry. Nothing 'in theory' at all, just 'in denial' as usual from you and your ant-EU dreamworld.

Haha , you just can't be pleased for the people of Sunderland can you. Your 1.5% is based on a prediction only. Good news is China continues to lead the world in EV battery production . It's a free world etc Edited by HKOwen (01 Jul 2021 1.44pm)

Where is the money coming from for that and how is it being claimed back?
