Can anyone please tell me how this song that was recorded by a 15 year old girl and was No 1 in the US chart in May 1963 became a Palace anthem? Edited by Tyke Exile (23 Jun 2021 10.57pm)

Never heard this before. I mistakenly presumed that one of the fanatics came up with it in his bedroom one evening. Palace are the northern soul of football, introducing obscure American records to the public.

It's amazing what you find out by listening to some of the infinite channels on Sirius XM whilst driving or some of the obscure streaming radio stations like this one [Link] I heard a song from the 1920s that was exactly like the theme tune to Red Dwarf. Truly nothing is original. Edited by Tyke Exile (23 Jun 2021 11.49pm)

It was used in the film Sister Act Back in 1992. Maybe we can get Whoopi Goldberg to lead the Ultras in a rousing rendition.

And Celtic fans were singing it long before Palace were.

I thought the answer might be here - but alas no..... In simple google searching I have found dozens of cover versions of the song and lots of facts that I have already forgotten. I would like to say that I will pursue this research relentlessly but in the end it is only a football chant and I really cannot be arsed. The End
