Of course the definition of mediocrity is all relative. Clearly you will not mention anybody of the Millwall variety.

Basically : Anybody who looks like a lower premier league journeyman.....and elevated to lofty heights by the other players in his squad.

For Starters :

Maraoune Fellaini.....Europa League winner...baffling, like an MMA fighter , always looks lost on a football pitch.

Olivier Giroud.......World Cup, champions league...with a habit of being 'out of form' or unlucky most of the time

we could include Mesut Ozil but clearly his early and late career are like two different people.

what others ? please justify your choices.

Nothing about Giroud is mediocre. Exceptionally underrated striker.

John Stones - Trophies galore at Man City.

did you see his contribution to winning that World Cup ? neither did i

or at the Euro's this summer ? Giroud, always full of future promise, and not so many Mbappe moments.

Giroud's true level is Everton/Arsenal/Spurs. A good player, sure.

.

Glad you mentioned him. I was debating his inclusion in this list.

The tv pundits in Ireland reckon he should be cleaning the toilets at the Etihad.

He was a handful, and a mouthful.

David Luiz, i love it when he starts for Arsenal.

A trophy-cabinet to rival Messi/Ronaldo and a total liability in front of his own 'keeper.

Don't you love all his angry pointing at his own team-mates every time they concede a goal. Usually a goal which was his own fault.

Neymar

It might just be me, but I've never seen him have a good game.
