OK, I can already feel the heat I'm going to get for this one. I know the vitriol that is normally thrown at the idea of fans always wanting fan favourites back. But humour me and let us think this one through for a bit.

He has done really well up here and seems back to how he was when he left us. Boro fans love him ,like we used to, they and Warnock really want to sign him after his loan this season.

Boro are having to make serious cut backs financially this season and Yannick has said he would take a massive pay cut to go to Boro to start enjoying his football again and `feel at home`. He had his best playing days with us and would surely perceive he would feel at home with us. Yes he is 32 so not great to lower the age of our squad.

He has just been released by Everton (along with Walcott, King and Besic) so would cost nothing in transfer fee and as stated above we could sign him for the equivalent wage a financially struggling mid championship club could afford.

We are facing the prospect of Eze being out for at least the start of next season. Yannick and Zaha (if Wilf stays) have played together in the past. Surely as a `stop gap` he isn't a bad choice for little outlay.

Do a Clyne style deal - offer him the chance to train and then assess. Not sure many will be in a rush to sign him up at the level he would want. We'd probably have to wait for new manager to sign off as well.

In firm agreement. What have we got to lose?

Loved him in his day. That season where him and Zaha were terrorizing defenders was amazing.

That being said, the next season he was moved to a striker role. There was a reason, he couldn't, or wouldn't, track back and do the defensive work.

Sold him for a fortune, which was probably the best deal we've done (okay, spent the money on Benteke, but let's not go there).

For me he'd at best be a sub off the bench. Probably not worth tying up a spot, unless we really need another player.

BTW, met him on a plane ride back to NY with his wife and 2 kids. Super nice chap.

With Eze out ...its a no brainer and a cheap option...and I think Zaha would love it

Paired up with one of our developing players - percentage of the match each - would provide service for a striker.

It’s a no brainier alright. Only someone with no brain would sign him.

32 years old with a serious knee injury on his record. Best left with old memories.

Cheap for a reason, we had his best years and got good wedge for him, so much for bringing the age of the squad down.
