Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Don't see anything to get excited about. Do we worry if a German character is not played by a German actor or an able bodied actor plays someone with a disability? A straight actor goes 'gay for pay' orr a gay actor plays a straight character. Its a drama so is made up. This is just as it has been over many years where dramatic interpretation means sometimes things may not be what you might expect. Edited by orpingtoneagle (23 May 2021 6.42pm)

If it's on Channel 5, then nobody will see it anyway.

Edited by orpingtoneagle (23 May 2021 6.42pm) The difference here is that it's not a fictional character in a made up drama - it's a drama portraying a real historical figure. She was white, and cannot, given the well recorded history of the Tudors, then and thereafter, be portrayed as anything else with any credibility. It's as unbelievable (even within the suspension of reality that all dram requires) as a white man playing Nelson Mandela or Desmond Tutu in a drama about apartheid.

I accept what you say she was indeed a real person, but this is a drama. Rumours abound about her, she was a witch is a fairly popular one. Would I object to a white man playing a black character? Don't think so, as I have seen enough drama where gender, race or sexuality is changed or fluid. If it is a good drama and gets you thinking I am looking forward to watching it.

No problem with nationality. Genevieve Bujold made a good Boleyn in Anne of a Thousand Days and she's French.
